Noida Metro rail corporation were to start the full trial on 30km Noida-Greater Noida Metro by April 15, as per the scheduled deadline.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has started its test trial run on a 10km stretch from Greater Noida’s Depot Metro station to Noida’s sector 149 Metro station on the 29.7km long Noida-Greater Noida ‘Aqua’ Metro line.

On February 2, the DMRC had started its trial run on a 1km stretch between Depot Metro station and Yard (workshop). However, the DMRC is yet to begin its trial on remaining 19.7km stretch between Sector 149 Metro station to Sector 71/51 Metro station, as the work on laying cables is still under way, officials said.

“We are yet to get a final date on the full trial on the 29.7-km stretch. But it will happen once we get the required clearance,” PD Upadhyay, executive director of the NMRC, said.

The Noida Metro rail corporation, which was formed on November 14, 2014, owns this Rs 5,503 crore project (including land cost). In 2015, the NMRC roped in the DMRC, which started work on this project in May, 2015. The trial was to start by end of 2017.
