Greater Noida, March 28, 2026 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar, marking a pivotal advancement in Uttar Pradesh’s aviation infrastructure and Delhi-NCR’s connectivity.

Addressing the ceremony alongside Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Governor Anandiben Patel, PM Modi stated, “Today we are starting a new chapter for a developed U.P. and developed India.” He underscored the airport’s role in empowering the nation’s youth by providing global flight paths to their ambitions, aligning with India’s vision of economic self-reliance.
Aerotropolis Vision: Beyond a Traditional Airport
The first phase, constructed at ₹11,200 crore, includes a 4 km runway ready for international operations. Minister Naidu announced plans to evolve NIA into a full aerotropolis, featuring air cargo hubs for exporting local products worldwide and 40-acre MRO facilities to create jobs. “This is a moment of great happiness for Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, and the country,” he said, dubbing it the national capital’s “another heartbeat.” The extended UDAN scheme will further boost regional air travel.
Transforming Delhi-NCR Logistics and Accessibility
NIA, just 45-60 minutes from Greater Noida, will alleviate IGI Airport’s congestion, benefiting NCR’s 30 million residents and businesses. Enhanced cargo and MRO services, backed by AISATS’s ₹4,458 crore investment from CM Adityanath’s Singapore MoU, will streamline manufacturing exports in electronics, autos, and textiles, spurring employment in hospitality and logistics.
Boost for Greater Noida’s Exhibition Industry at IEML
For India Expo Centre & Mart (IEML), this development elevates Greater Noida’s MICE sector, enabling faster international access and cargo efficiency for trade fairs, positioning the 1.3 million sqm venue as NCR’s premier exhibition hub.
